Ransomware bug leads to Petya decryptor

Ransomware keep on rising to an extreme dangerous level and unfortunately a new ransomware bug known as Petya Ransomware is welcomed in dark cyberworld. Ransomware Virus is so dangerous that usually user ends up paying ransom money to get access to their own encrypted data.

We generally don’t cheer bugs, but this time we are……

If your system is infected with Petya Ransomware then don’t panic you have a good news.

Now you can unlock your computer without paying a ransom to the hackers. Don’t thanks me for this thanks to the Petya author who left a bug in Ransomware code.

Wha tis Petya Ransomware??

Just like other ransomware virus Petya is also the malicious ransomware program but it works quite differently from other ransomware.

This new malware target user by rebooting their Windows computers and encrypt their hard drive's master boot file, and render the master boot record inoperable.

MBR or master boot record is actually the information in first sector of any hard disk, that recognize how and where the OS is located while master boot file is the file on NTFS volumes that have name, size, and location of other files.

Once it enters into the system, it makes the system restarts and Petya ransomware code is booted or operating system, shows a ransom note which demands 0.9 Bitcoin to unlock your encrypted files.

Without the decryption key user won’t be able to boot their infected system as well as all the files on startup disk will remain inaccessible.

Researcher named as @leostone on the Twitter has developed a tool which can generate the key Petya requires to decrypt your system.

This researcher have discovered the weakness found in this malware infection.
As per, Lawrence Abrams the key generator tool developed by Leostone can easily unlock the locked PC in just 7 seconds.

The decryptor tool developed by Leostone's decryptor tool doesn’t provide the straight-forward way to extract encrypted data. For non-technical guy it can be a very tiresome and lengthy process.

You still need not to worry another researcher named Fabian Wosar, created a free tool called Petya Sector Extractor that can extract the data in just one seconds.

This will provide you the perfect solution to decrypt your encrypted file.
